About The Position

Incumbent supervises and coordinates activities of fire lieutenants, firefighters and paramedics including firefighting, emergency response, hazardous materials response, technical rescue and emergency medical services.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of fire prevention practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of fire inspection and prevention techniques
  • Knowledge of fire investigation methods and procedures
  • Knowledge of Mohegan Tribal Fire Department and State of Connecticut policies, procedures, protocols, rules and regulations and Connecticut Life Safety Codes
  • Ability to safely and efficiently use emergency medical equipment, fire apparatus, fire pumps, all types of fire hoses and ladders
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply management principles and techniques
  • Good oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Basic word processing and spreadsheet skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six (6) years’ experience in an organized firefighting unit
  • Five (5) years’ leadership experience in emergency services
  • One (1) year experience as a full-time Lieutenant in a municipal or industrial fire department or the MTFD
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Six (6) years’ experience in an organized firefighting unit
  • Five (5) years’ leadership experience in emergency services
  • Five (5) years’ experience as an Acting Lieutenant in the MTFD
  • CDL or Q driver’s license (or other state’s equivalent)
  • Confined Space
  • EMT-B
  • Fire Officer II
  • Fire Service Instructor I
  • HazMat Technician-40 hour EPA
  • Incident Command
  • Safety Officer
  • Fire Marshall certification or the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment
  • Continued maintenance of all required licenses and certifications
  • Must maintain medical control for level of certification with sponsor hospital
  • Facial hair must not interfere with a respirator mask
  • Must pass a medical examination, including a respiratory test
  • Must perform strenuous or peak physical efforts during emergency, training or station maintenance activity for a prolonged period of time under conditions of extreme heights, intense heat, cold or smoke
