About The Position

The Basic X-Ray Machine Operator / Medical Assistant is responsible for performing routine radiographic imaging and providing clinical support to ensure efficient patient flow. This role supports providers, delivers high-quality patient care, and maintains compliance with state regulations and clinic protocols.

Requirements

  • Active Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO) or state-equivalent radiography license.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred) or relevant clinical experience.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of radiographic positioning, exposure techniques, and radiation safety guidelines.
  • Strong patient service, communication, and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and assist with patient mobility as needed.
  • Ability to move, position, or transfer patients safely.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred) or relevant clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine diagnostic X-ray exams in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
  • Position patients properly to obtain accurate imaging while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot basic X-ray equipment.
  • Follow all radiation safety protocols, including proper shielding and documentation.
  • Ensure image quality and submit images to the PACS/Radiologist for interpretation.
  • Maintain radiology logs, quality control records, and equipment maintenance documentation.
  • Adhere to ALARA principles (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for radiation exposure.
  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, document medical history, and prepare patients for examination.
  • Assist providers with exams, procedures, injections, and point-of-care testing.
  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection as permitted by clinic policy and state law.
  • Administer medications under provider direction.
  • Complete charting and documentation in the EMR.
  • Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
  • Support front-office operations as needed (scheduling, check-in, insurance verification).
