About The Position

Bay Harbor Golf Club, the most upscale of the three Boyne Golf properties, is perched high atop a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Please Note: This is a seasonal position with a start date of May 1st and end date of October 16th. The primary responsibilities of the bartender are to mix and serve drinks to patrons, directly or through wait staff. When it does happen, this position requires strong follow-up to ensure that work quality and attention to detail remain very high Leadership style required involves being an expert in the field and using that knowledge to be a resource for others' learning and development

Requirements

  • Must be 18 or older.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bartenders must possess ServSafe certification or acquire it upon hire.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift and carry at least 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience with point of sale software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collect money for drinks served.
  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.
  • Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment.
  • Balance cash receipts.
  • Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons.
  • Stock bar with beer, wine, liquor, and related supplies such as ice, glassware, napkins, or straws.
  • Serve wine, and bottled or draft beer. Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.
  • Clean bars, work areas, and tables.
  • Mix ingredients, such as liquor, soda, water, sugar, and bitters, to prepare cocktails and other drinks.
  • Supervise the work of bar staff and other bartenders.
  • Serve snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar.
  • Slice and pit fruit for garnishing drinks.
  • Displays willingness to make decisions
  • Exhibits sound and accurate judgment;Supports and explains reasoning for decisions; Includes appropriate people in decision-making process; Makes timely decisions.
