About The Position

The Barista crafts consistent, high-quality beverages and provides warm, efficient service. You’ll dial-in espresso, steam milk to standard, prepare teas/cold beverages, handle POS, and keep the bar spotless—delighting guests while maintaining speed, accuracy, and food-safety standards.

Requirements

  • 6+ months barista or café experience preferred (will train reliable, guest-focused candidates).
  • Working knowledge of espresso extraction, milk texturing, and basic latte art.
  • Comfortable with POS, cash handling, and fast-paced service; clear, friendly communication.
  • Certifications: Food Handler required; ServSafe Manager a plus.
  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays; punctual and dependable.
  • Mornings & Weekends a must. Schedule starts approximately 4am
  • Stand/walk for entire shift; frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motions.
  • Lift/push/pull up to 30–40 lbs (milk crates, coffee cases, ice).
  • Work around hot equipment, steam, and cleaning chemicals (PPE provided).

Responsibilities

  • Dial-in espresso/grinders; calibrate shots, yield, and timing throughout the day.
  • Steam milk with proper texture/temperature; pour clean latte art and follow recipe specs.
  • Prepare teas, cold brew, refreshers, blended drinks, and seasonal specials to standard.
  • Greet guests, make recommendations, and answer questions on beans, origins, roasts, and flavor notes.
  • Manage the queue and mobile/to-go orders; upsell pastries/retail and suggest pairings.
  • Resolve concerns with professionalism and service recovery.
  • Set up and break down bar stations; keep counters and equipment clean, organized, and stocked.
  • Follow cleaning schedules (wands, pitchers, grinders, hoppers, ice wells, drains, mats).
  • Practice ServSafe/HACCP: handwashing, labeling/rotation (FIFO), allergen and cross-contact prevention, temperature logs.
  • Adhere to responsible dairy/alternative-milk handling and sanitation standards.
  • Operate POS/handhelds; process cash/credit, tips, discounts, and gift cards accurately; balance bank at close.
  • Batch house syrups/sauces per recipes; brew coffee/tea to spec; restock milk, alt-milks, pastry, and retail.
  • Receive deliveries, rotate stock, and report low pars/waste.
  • Backflush and clean espresso machines daily; wipe burrs and purge grinders; report issues via work order and logbook.
  • Monitor water filtration, temps, and pressure; escalate variances promptly.
  • Support runners/FOH; coordinate with kitchen/pastry on 86s and lead times; share shift notes and pass-downs.
