About The Position

The Lead Host, Bar (Distillery), is the primary person to oversee and support daily operations and reporting of Bar 1888 to include management bartending team members, supply needs and ordering, ensuring sanitation, safety, and compliance protocols are maintained, and providing operations coaching. This position will report directly to the Visitor Center Supervisor, Distillery and will act as a back-up Person In Charge, (PIC), during designated times. The Bar Lead Host provides unparalleled guest service and representation of the brand to build a loyal fanbase through experiential marketing ensuring bar operations, presentation, and sales meet brand standards for quality and hospitality at all times. The Lead Host, Bar will drive consistency in Bar 1888 operating practices, streamline ordering, oversee inventory needs and ensure all Guest Experience Hosts are well versed in bar function, setting the example of a superior customer service experience for the team. In addition, as a member of the Visitor Center Leadership Team, the Lead Host, Bar, will hold working knowledge of daily practices for the entire VC, stepping in as PIC as needed. The Lead Host is required to uphold high level professionalism and ensure all guest experiences and daily operations are implemented to policy and brand standards, consistently executing decisions that are in the best interest of all guests and Four Roses Distillery working closely with Lead Host, Guest Experience, Manager, Guest Experiences and the Brand Ambassador/Mixologist role.

  • Associates degree in Hospitality, Communications, Marketing or related degree or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience in guest/customer service/retail/hospitality and bar experience
  • Knowledge of bartending and operations management
  • Demonstrated proficiency MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Access)

Responsibilities

  • Always act as an ambassador of the brand, sharing passion for the product through education and enthusiasm. Complete regular brand education and advocacy training as needed to be able to act as an ambassador of the brand as well as our hospitality standards.
  • Provide a high-end hospitality experience from greeting to departure for every guest or internal customer and coach Hosts working in bar on hospitality best practices.
  • Manage guest dissatisfaction swiftly & discreetly. Resolve outstanding issues with the support of Supervisor/Lead when necessary.
  • Oversee Daily open/close activity including registers, drawer audits, restocking & sanitation, and ensuring bar spaces are clean, safe, and in working order for guests.
  • Ensure all local, state, and federal laws are followed by bar staff and guests for safety and compliance, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Oversee weekly sanitation needs including deep clean of ice machine, equipment, drains etc.
  • Receive bar supply inventory. Act as liaison to make orders, track orders, arrange delivery, etc.
  • Organize and ensure freshness for all bar supplies and ingredients in accordance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Complete Bourbon count/audit and transfer request for bar inventory, barware and cocktail tools.
  • Order supplies and ingredients, compile list based on usage, and source quality, cost-effective and readily available components. Present to Supervisor weekly for approval.
  • Maintain invoices and receipts for bar supplies for reconciliation.
  • Monitor and execute credit card bar tip splits and submit to Finance and Accounting/ HR departments weekly for payroll processing, after Supervisor review and approval. Document and record cash tips and split weekly.
  • Monitor and submit weekly sales to Finance and Accounting/ HR departments for record keeping and payroll purposes.
  • Provide guidance and support for bar staff and ensure Host roles are used to full capacity, as driven by business need.
  • Assist Leadership Team with daily zone scheduling and adjust according to business need.
  • Notify Supervisor of any coaching opportunities and assist in staff leadership training as needed including but not limited to morale boosters, sales competitions, and skills refreshers.
  • In partnership with Brand Ambassador, Mixologist, devise schedule and assist with training new staff on Bar 1888 procedures, crafting cocktails, bar etiquette and hospitality.
  • Establish calendar of cocktails offered in Bar 1888 and ensure timing is according to marketing campaign promotional timeline. Drive necessary training for communication to be disseminated by Bar 1888 support staff.
  • Support trial and beta testing of new menu items. Source glassware or supplies for new items as needed. Partner with Retail & Inventory Coordinator as needed.
  • Order and maintain promotional signage in coordination with Brand Marketing team and ensure daily chalkboard signage is updated with latest offerings. Update Menus with seasonal offerings as needed.
  • Report maintenance needs for Bar 1888 to Supervisor/ Lead Host or Maintenance Dept.
  • Recommends menu enhancements and additional elements to enhance the overall experience, based on customer feedback, data or competitive trends.
  • Partners with BA/Mixologist to produce specialty cocktails for events, ensuring timing supports guest experience.
  • Manages input to Square- adding new cocktails, offerings, and managing feedback to deliver to Lead Host, Distillery. Responsible for reporting metrics as directed.
  • Works closely with Warehouse & Bottling Facility Visitor Center team to drive consistency in program, training, and innovation to establish consistent cocktail program across bar locations.
  • As needed during times of absence of Supervisor and Lead Host, Bar Lead Host will act as a back-up PIC, also known as keyholder responsibilities, for the Visitor Center Supervisor, Distillery.
  • Conduct daily huddle, manage daily tour flows and make decisions to best accommodate the guest, keeping FR as top of mind.
  • Take call-in requests from VC Staff and communicate to Supervisor for proper documentation and follow-up.
  • Act as primary for all incidents including Safety, Health, etc. and follows SOP to ensure all incidents are handled to FR policy, with safety as top priority.
  • Fill out incident reports in detail and provides information to Supervisor or Manager as needed.
  • Reports any safety, facilities maintenance or interruptions to guest experience to the appropriate party as needed.
  • Act as back-up to make change runs, deposits, etc. to bank.
  • Ensure accuracy of daily drawer reconciliation and that all open and closing duties are completed, as outlined.
  • Provide as needed logistical support for: experience set up, strike down, guest traffic. control, responsibility practice, cocktails, media/audio or any other function as necessary.
  • Support any additional Visitor Center projects as requested.
  • Participate in inventory cycle counts and full year inventory.
  • Support engraving machine training of Hosts and Hospitality team members.
  • Assists and participates in Marketing related functions and activities as necessary.
  • Event setup/ special projects as required for brand education activations.
  • Host guided tours and/or tasting experiences for VIP/brand education guests as needed, delivering an enjoyable, interactive & informative experience.
