Job Description Banquet servers are responsible for serving the menu offering for the event and assisting guests as needed. Table setting, food station design, and beverage service. Other duties include general banquet preparation, room refreshes, and maintaining a safe and sanitary working environment. Maintain complete knowledge of: Daily scheduled group functions, times, locations, amount of people. Location of all hotel function space and names of rooms. All styles of meeting and banquet room settings. Correct maintenance and use of equipment. All departmental/hotel policies and procedures. All safety guidelines. Serve wine in accordance to the Banquet Event Order. Ability to understand guests’ service needs and set up requirements. Ability to prioritize, organize and follow through. Ability to follow directions. Ability to focus attention on detail. Ability to adhere to timelines in completion of set-ups. Ability to adapt to priority changes of work flow or requirements. Ability to perform job functions with minimal supervision from Manager. Ability to performs and remain extremely alert while operating designated equipment, machinery and tools. Ability to exert physical effort in transporting and placement of tables, chairs, staging, dance floor, podiums and other meeting/banquet room equipment when needed. Ability to endure physical movements in performing job functions. Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.
  • Food handling certification.
  • Ability to satisfactory communication in English with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to provide legible communication.
  • Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.
  • High school graduate.
  • Previous experience in similar hospitality position.
  • Knowledge of various room set-ups and equipment involved.
  • Knowledge of proper chemical handling and cleaning techniques.
  • Previous guest relations training.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, heaving lifting (50 lbs.)
  • Ability to manage others and work outdoors.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
