About The Position

The Banquets General Manager is responsible for ensuring that large party dinners and functions are executed in the most efficient and customer-pleasing way possible. The General Manager generally supervises every aspect of execution of a banquet, from setup and breakdown to the actual service, along with scheduling, training and hiring personnel.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid gaming license as determined by the State and Gaming Commission for the position.
  • Ability to work long hours.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of times without sitting or leaning.
  • Ability to climb stairs multiple times daily.
  • Ability to handle multi-tasking-heavy work-exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 30 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Ability to climb, bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms.
  • Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred, five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in Banquet management and supervision in a fine dining facility.
  • Preferred, four (4)-year degree in related fields or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures smooth and efficient functioning of the Banquet Department on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for the timely, precise and expert execution of all banquet functions.
  • Ability to meet the demand of clients’ events to include presence at numerous food and beverage functions throughout the day.
  • Plan and execute all groups from a conference management standpoint, including banquet event orders, group resumes and meeting room setups.
  • Assumes responsibility for all equipment, inventories, supplies, furniture and fixtures assigned to the Banquet Department.
  • Ensure that cleaning is scheduled for all banquet equipment during slow times.
  • Provides leadership, direction, training and support for the team members and leaders in the department.
  • Responsible for recruitment and training of new employees and maintains appropriate staffing levels at all times by liaising with the Recruiting Department.
  • Ensure cost effective scheduling of the Banquet Leadership team, Captains, Banquet Servers, Bartenders and House persons to minimize productivity to forecast and budget.
  • Assists with establishing good relationships with other departments and outside vendors.
  • Attends all financial meetings and is responsible for all P&L statements and goals
  • All other duties as assigned.
