About The Position

The catering worker position is vital to achieving excellent customer service and executing catering events. They are responsible for pulling equipment for event set-up, transporting materials and food to the event, setting up the event, serving guests, cleaning up the event, and returning equipment to the Catering Department in the designated storage area. The ideal candidate will have open availability and must be open to working nights, weekends and extended hours as required.

Requirements

  • Able to understand and follow directions from the Manager/ Director
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently lift, push, pull, or carry up to 30 lbs
  • Able to walk or stand for extended time periods, up to 6 hours

Responsibilities

  • Prepare banquet room for the function
  • Display excellent customer service and maintain a well-groomed, neat appearance
  • Serve meals and beverage in accordance with catering protocol
  • Properly set tables for special functions
  • Wipe and polish silverware
  • Transfer supplies and equipment between storage and work areas by hand or by cart
  • Able to move in and out of catering vehicles and transport event equipment and food product in a safe manner; follow all applicable DOT regulations
  • Clean all functions areas upon completion of the event
  • Perform opening and closing side work as needed
  • Maintain storage rooms and supplies in an orderly fashion
  • Maintain equipment and all other catering supplies
  • Perform all job duties in a safe manner and follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Report equipment and maintenance repairs to Managers in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean and neat workstation
  • Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Utilize proper food handling procedures and food safety knowledge
  • Take samples of all food items before serving customers
  • Maintain a positive attitude, smile and greet customers as they approach the serving line
  • Be polite with customers during transactions and make sure they are satisfied with their service before helping the next customer
  • Escalate customer concerns to a supervisor or manager
  • Communicate and interact in a professional manner at all times
  • Maintain daily temperature logs with calibrated digital thermometer
  • Prepare foods according to provided recipes, following correct portion controls
  • Must be able to answer customer questions about menu items on the line
  • Assist co-workers in setting up and breaking down stations as directed by managers
  • Wash work areas including worktables, walls, refrigerators, and cutting boards
  • Separate and remove waste and place it in appropriate receptacles
  • Complete production and waste logs
  • Involves repetitive motion
  • Involves working with chemicals, heated equipment, steam and at other risk conditions
  • Completion of any task requested by a supervisor or manager
