THE ROLE The Banquet Server is responsible for the server activities for the Foodservice Department, Groesbeck Golf Course and Legends Global sponsored/managed events and properties. The Banquet Server shall ensure that all services are provided in a professional, efficient, effective, and timely manner. The Banquet Server is responsible for providing superior experience and service to the customers, guests and vendors of the Lansing Center, Groesbeck Golf Course and Legends Global sponsored/managed events and properties. Banquet Server will adhere to the policies and procedures designed to promote efficiency of operation and quality of service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Serving experience in the Food Service industry preferred, preferably experience in volume banquet service in a convention center, stadium or other public assembly facility.
  • The candidate demonstrates the ability to interact positively with others in a courteous, cooperative, and professional manner, consistently maintaining a professional attitude and demeanor.
  • They show a strong commitment to superior customer service while projecting a positive public image and maintaining impeccable hygiene.
  • They are reliable, dependable, and punctual, with excellent interpersonal skills, clean and organized work habits, and a cooperative team approach.
  • The candidate is an enthusiastic advocate of LEPFA, flexible in their work approach, and able to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and through listening in English.
  • They accurately understand and execute directions, meet deadlines, and perform job duties with minimal supervision.
  • Their skills include adherence to alcohol safety standards, proper cash handling, efficient operation of Point-of-Sale devices, and accurate basic math abilities.
  • Additionally, they can comprehend and execute Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) effectively, ensuring tasks are performed accurately and efficiently.
  • The candidate demonstrates the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while using their hands effectively to perform required job duties.
  • They can adjust and focus their vision, prioritize and organize tasks efficiently, and communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and through active listening.
  • They maintain confidentiality, handle difficult people with professionalism and tact, and remain flexible even in limited working spaces.
  • The candidate projects a cheerful presence regardless of internal or external pressures and can withstand job functions in inclement weather, including cold, heat, rain, snow, and other environmental elements.
  • They may be exposed to dust, noise, fumes, cleaning agents, food allergens, oil, greases, solvents, and other potentially hazardous chemicals while safely performing duties in an outdoor golf course setting.
  • They can understand, communicate, and follow directions accurately, lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly, and stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Their physical abilities also include frequent bending, kneeling, twisting, lifting, reaching, occasional squatting and climbing, and the ability to navigate stairs.
  • Additionally, the candidate can work effectively in a busy environment with multiple people, noises, smells, and distractions, while remaining patient and calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of banquet event setup, including linens, service ware, place settings, tables, condiments, centerpieces, and buffet arrangements, as well as teardown and cleanup.
  • Provide professional and timely service by setting up, transporting, and serving food and beverages while ensuring work areas are clean and compliant with health, safety, and departmental standards.
  • Deliver an excellent dining experience by serving and clearing courses, replenishing utensils and beverages, and meeting guest needs according to the Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Set up, monitor, refresh, and break down beverage stations, food stations, receptions, and buffets, promptly report client or guest issues to supervisors, and perform closing duties while preparing for future events.
  • Perform periodic cleaning tasks, support a safe and harassment-free work environment, adhere to Legends Global policies and applicable laws, participate in pre-shift meetings, maintain cleanliness and sanitation of banquet areas, and handle cash properly.
  • Follow the departmental dress code, support special events, and maintain knowledge of all relevant policies, procedures, safety rules, health codes, and regulations, including those specific to the Foodservice Department.
  • This position requires flexibility for irregular schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with work assignments, shift adjustments, and overtime as needed, along with other duties as assigned.
