Requirements

High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.
Must have a valid driver's license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy with prior driving experience upon employment.
Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays to accommodate Catering schedule.
Ability to effectively communicate with various clients and colleagues.
Advanced knowledge of food safety.
Ability to work in a fast-paced stressful environment.
Knowledge of basic math and computer skills.
Knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations, and etiquette.
Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.
Knowledge of food service/banquet operations.
Ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items.
Ability to lift/transport a maximum of 50lbs.
Ability to frequently reach, bend, lift, push, pull and/or carry while performing normal job functions.
Ability to stand continuously for at least 6 hours.

Responsibilities

Greets and welcome guests, assist with seating and food service, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
Serve food and/or beverage to guests efficiently, ensuring proper timing and presentation.
Assist with the set-up, service and breakdown of all assigned banquet functions.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of serving areas, equipment and tables, sometimes multiple events in a day.
Arrange and replenish buffet lines, drink stations or passed appetizers as needed.
Replenish and clean up guests' plates and glasses as needed and clear plates between courses.
Serves the food and/or beverage listed on the Banquet Event Order to the standards of the department and expectations of the client, in a manner that ensures consistency in all banquet/catered functions.
Adhere to all food safety and sanitation standards.
Ensure compliance with local health regulations, including handling food with care and monitoring serving temperatures.
Assist with client complaints and escalate to leadership if needed.
Works to ensure overall guest satisfaction.
Additional duties as assigned.
