About The Position

The Banquet Server ensures quality customer service to our guests during events and banquets. This role involves setting up assigned tables, retrieving and serving beverages and food orders to guest tables according to hotel specifications and group requirements, and maintaining the cleanliness and condition of work areas and equipment. The position requires availability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as needed to meet business operations. Key responsibilities also include maintaining food and beverage safety and quality based on hotel, Shaner, and Franchise specifications, greeting guests and assisting with seating, taking and retrieving alcoholic beverage orders using suggestive selling techniques when appropriate, and serving all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items in accordance with departmental standards. The server is expected to anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, acknowledge all guests, maintain positive guest relations, be familiar with hotel services and local attractions to accurately respond to inquiries, handle guest complaints to ensure satisfaction, and monitor and maintain the cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned stations and service areas.

Requirements

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding.
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages.
  • ServSafe and/or food safety training.
  • Alcohol awareness training (such as TIPS).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in banquet operations and/or hospitality.
  • Some college.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
  • Knowledge of local activities and attractions appropriate for clientele.

Responsibilities

  • Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company’s business operations.

  • Take and retrieve guests' alcoholic beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques, when specified on function requirements.
  • Serve all food courses and non-alcoholic beverage items to the guest in accordance with departmental standards and function requirements.
  • Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly, and acknowledge all guests; always maintain positive guest relations.
  • Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
  • Handle guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned station and service areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
