Position Summary A Banquet Houseperson is responsible for the set-up, breakdown, general cleanliness and maintenance of the meeting rooms and banquet areas. This role reports to the Director of Banquets.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Six-month food and beverage experience required
  • Basic industry terminology
  • Understanding on how to assist customers and meet their needs effectively
  • Familiarity with company rules, regulations, and operational standards
  • Knowledge of company policies and procedures
  • Proficient knowledge of food and cooking methods and wine
  • Must display basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and food allergies
  • Ability to do basic problem-solving
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others to achieve team goals
  • Ability to engage with customers in a positive and helpful manner
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to notice and address small discrepancies in work or customer feedback
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to complete tasks and projects delegated by supervisor and assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand
  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk or be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Regularly work in wet, hot and humid conditions for extended periods of time and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces
  • Must be able to occasionally lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)

Responsibilities

  • Extend friendly greeting to guests in meeting rooms and public areas
  • Set rooms according to banquet event orders and standards
  • Responsible for setup and breakdown of all meeting rooms and functions
  • Assist in banquet service. Assist in transporting food and tableware to and from the kitchen. Assist in coordinating breakdown station for dirty dishes
  • Transport and handle equipment and furniture with care to meeting rooms and off property events. Avoid damaging walls, doors and furniture when transporting
  • Breakdown and clean meeting rooms. Clean and organize banquet back hallway and banquet storage rooms
  • Inform Banquet Manager of guest comments and complaints
  • Maintain positive communication with banquet staff and all F&B departments
  • Other duties as assigned
