About The Position

Elevated above the Distractions Promontory Club is looking to hire a Full Time Food & Beverage Banquet Houseman (Hourly). Our Banquet Houseman will meet the Member's food and beverage needs in a friendly and professional manner that is consistent with the highest standards of Promontory Club events. Overview: Manage set up and breakdown of all banquet functions. Maintain quality and quantity of all banquet equipment. Monitor and assist in upkeep of banquet facilities and vehicles.

Requirements

  • Must be willing to work various hours, nights, holidays and weekends when needed
  • must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time
  • ability to lift 25lbs regularly and the ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally
  • must be willing to work at any F&B outlet when required.
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
  • (2) two years of previous experience working as a supervisor in a banquet or catering environment preferred
  • must have or be able to acquire a State of Utah food handler's certification within two weeks of employment
  • must be at least 21 years of age for serving alcoholic beverages (UDABS).
  • A broad background in banquet dining and events is preferred
  • basic computer skills and competency in the following Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and POS software
  • must have strong communication and organization skills
  • must have a high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment all while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Abide by Promontory policies and procedures and submit ideas for possible revision
  • work independently with little supervision
  • courteous and helpful with Promontory Club Members and employees
  • a thorough knowledge of all games, electronic media and Point of Sales systems will be required within the first 30 days of employment
  • practice proper and timely communication.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship

Nice To Haves

  • preferred to have a recognized alcohol server training card by the Utah Department of Alcohol and Beverage Services (UDABS)

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely set up and breakdown of banquet functions.
  • Assist in training staff on set up and breakdown procedures.
  • Communicate scheduling needs for set up and break down with Assistant Event Manager.
  • Ensure transportation of food and equipment to each venue including remote locations on property.
  • Responsible for weekly liquor pick up and drop off to each Food & Beverage outlet.
  • Responsible for ensuring sufficient operating supplies, beverage supplies and operating equipment for banquet functions.
  • Communicate ordering needs to Banquet Manager, Beverage Purchasing, and Chefs.
  • Responsible for ensuring each function space is always set visually appealing.
  • Responsible for the overall sanitation and cleanliness of the work areas, banquet rooms and storage areas.
  • Regular oversight of all event venues to ensure proper usage and good working order of all equipment, banquet vehicles, furniture and fixtures in the Banquet and Catering areas. Notify correct department head of any repairs or services needed.
  • Responsible for consistently implementing the service standards and operating procedures in the Banquet and Catering department.
  • Take on Captain responsibilities if needed.
  • Be familiar with all current and upcoming event details.
  • Resolve staff and customer concerns quickly and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with the Chefs, Restaurant Managers, Maintenance, Housekeeping and Security as needed.
  • Assist and support the Event Manager and Assistant Manager to provide excellent guest service.
  • Must be able to handle long shifts and heavy lifting/moving.
  • Speak with others using clear and professional language.
  • Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
