About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated High Volume Banquet Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and will be able to deliver high-quality food consistently. You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a wide variety of dishes, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, and ensuring that all food safety and sanitation standards are met.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate.
  • Three years’ experience in a similar position in an upscale Convention Hotel or Restaurant
  • Food Handler Certification required.
  • Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Compute basic arithmetic to include percentages.
  • Knowledge of all stations in the Banquet Kitchen.
  • Regular and Punctual Attendance
  • Ability to adhere to Sonesta grooming standards.
  • Ability to lift and move approximately 75 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach daily.
  • Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion (dishing portions, carving, stirring, and chopping).
  • Ability to move freely within the kitchen area.
  • Ability to clean as you go in the kitchen area.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to work in temperature extremes.
  • Ability to interact with guests and other employees courteously, empathetically, and discreetly.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous guest relations training and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Food Preparation and Cooking: Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to the recipes and standards.
  • Ensure all food items are cooked to the correct temperature and presented attractively.
  • Work efficiently to manage multiple orders simultaneously during peak hours.
  • Kitchen Organization and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
  • Ensure proper storage and labeling of ingredients and food items.
  • Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other kitchen staff to ensure timely and quality service.
  • Communicate effectively with servers and other team members to coordinate orders.
  • Compliance and Safety: Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
  • Report any kitchen equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to management.
