About The Position

Join our dynamic team as a Banquet Captain, where you will lead and guide restaurant staff in executing exceptional events. Your role includes training staff, assisting with evaluations, and ensuring flawless event setup, service, and tear-down. You'll oversee food and beverage presentation, manage communications, address guest concerns, and handle invoicing and payments. Additionally, you'll inventory and manage banquet equipment, attend meetings, and support restaurant management duties. This position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to delivering superior guest experiences. Other duties as assigned. This position begins at $20.06/hr and increases to $20.66/hr at the successful completion of a 90-day orientation period and features excellent employer-paid medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Two or more years serving in events or banquets.
  • Must be able to work all scheduled shifts to include day, swing, graveyard and holidays
  • All applicants must obtain a Class III B license as required by the Puyallup Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office and the Washington State Gaming Commission.
  • Pre-employment drug testing is required for all positions.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Banquet Captain experience preferred.
  • Additional education/experience may substitute for the minimum requirements of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides training and guidance to Restaurant staff assigned to banquets.
  • Assists shift managers with performance evaluations of staff, providing input on performance.
  • Executes and follows directions on Banquet Event Orders ensuring any special requests are met.
  • Oversees the set-up and tear-down ensuring the banquet rooms and event areas are set-up as directed.
  • Oversees the food and beverage service ensuring items are served and presented appropriately.
  • Coordinates and maintains communications between Food and Beverage staff assigned to the banquet or event.
  • Notifies all department contacts of any changes to the event, problems or issues.
  • Addresses guests’ concerns in a courteous, professional and timely manner.
  • Invoices guests at the conclusion of the banquet based on all items, guests and the banquet event order accounting for all items and receiving the guests’ signature.
  • Accepts payments for events ensuring the check is posted to the master account.
  • Ensures all banquet/event staff signs in and out on the sign in sheets.
  • Completes Captains’ report at the end of event which includes details on event delivery and comments of the host.
  • Inventories, orders, stocks and stores all banquet equipment.
  • Coordinates and attends mandatory and pre-shift meetings.
  • Performs Assistant Restaurant Shift Manager and Restaurant Shift Manager assignments.
