About The Position

The iconic Hotel del Coronado is looking for a Banquet Captain to join the Banquet team! Join one of the last surviving wooden Victorian beach resorts in the world and after a $400M renovation and expansion, the resort is more stunning than ever. The quintessential al fresco dining experience with spectacular ocean views, Veranda is a journey of familiarity rediscovered. The menu of exceptionally prepared American favorites is inspired by The Del’s Southern California roots, elevating clean, fresh flavors and regional produce, while classic cocktails and a California-forward wine list provide the finishing touch. Located on Coronado Island just minutes from Downtown San Diego, this 28-acre property was built in 1888 and has over 750 rooms (to include cottages and villas), 65,000 square feet of banquet space, and 10 food and beverage outlets. This includes 4 restaurants, 2 bars, food truck, marketplace, ice cream shop, and in-room dining. As a Banquet Captain, you would be responsible for overseeing the pre-event, event and post event activities of all food and beverage, Team Members and guests during banquet functions in the hotel's continuing effort to deliver outstanding guest service and financial profitability. Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards: Supervise food and beverage service throughout banquet functions to ensure quality service and product quality. Supervise and manage all staff associated with the particular event/function. Assist with the planning, organizing and execution of all banquet functions including, but not limited to, breakfast, coffee breaks, luncheons, dinners, cocktail receptions, galas, etc. Greet and welcome client representative and guests, responding to requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner. Participate in and lead department meetings. Process banquet checks accurately and efficiently for payment. Ensure guest satisfaction throughout the meal service. Serve alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with federal, state, local and company regulations. Directing and motivating banquet staff to ensure efficient service and adherence to service standards, company policies and compliance regulations. Collaborating with other departments (culinary, event planning) to ensure seamless event execution. Overseeing the proper setup and breakdown of banquet rooms, including furniture, equipment, and table settings. Greet guests, assist with seating, and ensure guest satisfaction. Monitoring servers and ensuring proper service standards are followed. Managing banquet supplies and ensuring sufficient inventory. Inspecting the cleanliness and presentation of all banquet areas, equipment, china and Team Member Dress Code. Addressing any issues or requests that arise during the event. Communicating with guests, staff, and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Assisting in training new staff and providing ongoing coaching and guidance. Ensuring all safety and security procedures are followed.
