About The Position

The Hyatt Regency Coralville Hotel & Conference Center is seeking a detail-oriented, service-driven Banquet Captain to lead our banquet team and ensure seamless execution of events. As a Banquet Captain, you will oversee event setup, service, and breakdown while ensuring quality standards are met and guest expectations are exceeded. Requirements

  • Prior banquet server experience required
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to guest needs
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. with or without accommodation

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support banquet staff during event setup, service, and breakdown
  • Ensure banquet rooms are set according to event orders and standards
  • Oversee food and beverage service to ensure quality and consistency
  • Communicate with event contacts to ensure expectations are met
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of banquet spaces and storage areas
  • Monitor inventory and ensure necessary supplies are available
  • Assist with scheduling based on event needs and labor guidelines
  • Process banquet billing and ensure accuracy
  • Communicate effectively with managers and other departments
  • Ensure team members follow service standards, policies, and procedures
  • Provide leadership during events and resolve issues as they arise
  • Support training and development of banquet staff
  • Attend department meetings and assist with other duties as assigned
