About The Position

The Banquet Bartender must possess great organizational skills, accuracy and speed all while working clean and efficiently. Successful individuals will have a strong sense of urgency and positive attitude while calmly serving up to 300 guests. Experience with traditional cocktail recipes, and a focus on setting up a successful bar station are essential to this position. The Banquet Bartender will ensure that all food and beverage service for functions in the banquet department of the hotel are served on time and that all of The Lake House professional standards are upheld. The Banquet Bartender maintains a thorough knowledge of the Lake House and all its grounds, products, and services as well as awareness of other roles and responsibilities throughout the organization.

Requirements

  • One year experience required in previous bartender position.
  • Must have and maintain current TIPS, ServSafe or equivalent alcohol training.
  • Possess time management, basic math aptitude and experience handling cash.
  • Must be on time and willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evenings.
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of liquors, beers and wines.
  • Must agree and adhere to compensation acknowledgment and tip reporting guidelines.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Able to work ten hour-plus shifts plus the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time
  • Able to grasp, lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds as needed
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance, adhering to Lake House uniform standards.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and portray a friendly demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must consistently demonstrate a teamwork-oriented and positive attitude.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous banquet service/experience strongly preferred, preferably in a large-scale Catering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all state and local laws for serving alcohol responsibly (e.g., last call times).
  • Set up and breakdown bar in a timely manner, keeping all areas cleaned and stocked.
  • Follows standard operating procedures to help ensure that bars are set up and operated with efficiency and minimum labor and cost sales.
  • Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times. Make guests feel welcome and appreciated. Offer assistance before guests ask.
  • Responsible to maintain a positive and “can do” attitude to guests and coworkers at all times.
  • Reads and understands all particulars of banquet event orders.
  • Collect all necessary equipment, beverages, etc. to set up designated area, polish all glassware and prepare needed bar condiments
  • Prepare drink orders for guests according to specified recipes using measuring systems.
  • Maintain cleanliness and condition of bar, tables, and other tools, following all set-up guidelines.
  • Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for guests following standard recipes.
  • Document and communicate any incidents/accidents immediately to management during shift or event.
  • Stock/restock ice, glassware, and paper supplies as well as wash and sterilize stemware.
  • Requisition all necessary supplies, specifically bottle-for-bottle liquor restock, transporting supplies from storeroom to bar set-up area as required.
  • Remove soiled wares from bar top and tables and place in designated area.
  • Anticipate and communicate replenishment needs promptly, ensuring no shortages throughout scheduled function time.
  • Issue, open, and serve wine/champagne bottles, ensuring guest satisfaction and assisting Banquet Servers.
  • Handle card and cash transactions, ensuring that all funds in the cash drawer are accounted for by the end of the shift.
  • Secure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas.
  • Complete closing duties, including storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, and completing daily cleaning checklist.
  • Perform other related functions that may be assigned by Manager.
