About The Position

This role is responsible for providing exceptional service to our members by handling a wide range of financial transactions and inquiries. The Banker 1 will serve as a trusted advisor, helping members achieve their financial goals through a consultative sales approach and a deep understanding of our credit union's products and services.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or its equivalent is required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks while under strict deadlines and constant interruptions
  • Ability to maintain a flexible schedule to attend training sessions that are held before or after regular retail hours
  • Ability to act in a discrete manner when dealing with sensitive membership information (loan denials, overdrawn accounts, etc.)
  • A high degree of reasoning ability and good judgment in setting priorities and carrying out duties with supervision
  • Ability to make sound decisions regarding branch operations and member relations with confidence and firmness after assembling facts and weighing alternative solutions

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist members in a friendly and professional manner, both in-person and over the phone.
  • Process a variety of financial transactions accurately and efficiently, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and wires.
  • Open new accounts, including checking, savings, and certificates of deposit, for new and existing members.
  • Take consumer loan applications, including auto, credit cards, personal lines of credit, signature loans for new and existing members.
  • Assist members with fraud and dispute claims, including guiding them through the necessary steps to file a claim, explaining the process, and setting expectations for resolution.
  • Educate members on the features and benefits of our credit union's products and services, such as loans, credit cards, and online banking.
  • Resolve member inquiries and issues in a timely and effective manner, escalating complex matters to the Branch Manager as needed.
  • Actively participate in sales activities and campaigns to meet or exceed individual and branch goals.
  • Identify and act on cross-selling opportunities to deepen member relationships.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge of our credit union's products, services, and policies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with members to foster loyalty and retention.
  • Attend community events to build brand awareness.
  • Adhere to all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail in all transactions and documentation.
  • Balance cash drawer daily and maintain accurate records.
  • Assist with branch opening and closing procedures as needed.
  • Other essential functions of the job may be assigned by your supervisor.
