About The Position

American Bank & Trust is proud to offer a paid summer internship program designed to develop future banking professionals through hands-on experience, mentorship, and professional development. Join our 10 to 12-week rotational internship across Retail/Branch, Operations, Risk & Compliance, Finance, Marketing, HR, Credit/Lending, Treasury, and Digital/IT. You’ll gain hands-on experience in customer service, back-office processes, data analysis, and regulatory fundamentals (BSA/AML, KYC, GLBA). Mentorship provided, plus a capstone project presented to leadership. Eligibility Undergraduate students entering their Junior or Senior year or have completed approximately 50% of the required course work for the respective program. Degree areas in Finance, Investments, Financial Planning, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Project Management, Data Analytics, Information Systems Management, Software Engineering, Economics, Risk Management & Insurance, Communications, Human Resources. 3-5 interns (adjust to business needs) Compensation Competitive hourly wage. Non-exempt Mentor pairing, professional development sessions. Access to learning content and compliance training. Core Learning Objectives Banking Fundamentals: deposits, lending, treasury, operations Risk & Compliance: BSA/AML, KYC, OFAC, GLBA, privacy, Fair Lending/ECOA, UDAAP basics Customer Focus : service and relationship skills Data & technology: systems, reporting, analytics (Power BI/Excel) Professional skills: communication, ethics, teamwork, problem-solving Rotations (Customize per cohort): Retail/Branch – Customer service, account onboarding, service workflows Operations – ACH/wires, reconciliations, back-office processes Credit/Lending – basic credit analysis, underwriting exposure Risk & Compliance – KYC reviews, AML scenarios, policy exposure Treasury/Commercial – cash management, business services Digital/IT – core banking system overview, analytics dashboards Marketing/Community – outreach, financial literacy events. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed largely within the Bank with limited chance of personal injury. Prolonged and frequent mental and visual concentration required. Periodic stressful situations in response to multiple priorities within established deadlines. Work hours are generally normal business hours. Unscheduled evening and weekend work may be needed to meet the needs of customers and employees. Occasional out-of-town and overnight business travel may be required. Work on some Saturdays will be required. Must be able to lift and move up to 20 pounds of office supplies and equipment. Some bending, turning, and twisting required.
