Made Possible.  The Baler Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining bailing equipment to bind trimmings and paper waste received from manufacturing.

Requirements

  • At least one year of work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience operating power industrial vehicles; preferably fork trucks
  • Willing and able to work a 12-hr shift; either 7am-7pm or 7pm-7am
  • Willing and able to work overtime when needed
  • Operation of Baler equipment
  • Operating forklift

  • Proficient in reading, writing and speaking to receive and give directions and instructions
  • Perform mathematical functions as related to baler operations
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve baler problems
  • Safely perform all tasks on and around baler equipment
  • Operate a forklift
  • Mechanical aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Safe operation and maintaining of bailing equipment
  • Collects all paper/board waste from manufacturing
  • Assist Maintenance in removing jams from baler and cyclone
  • Maintains supply of wire in baler
  • Assist in disposing of dust waste and changing filters when necessary
  • Maintains supplies needed for the baler room and obtains new supplies when necessary
  • Removes bales from baler and stores or loads onto trailer using a forklift
  • Segregates, straps and stores bales based on type and grade
  • Adheres to and promotes all safety policies and procedures including but not limited to the handling of non-hazardous waste, observing lock-out/tag-out rules and hearing and eye protection policies.
  • Keeps and maintains Baler tracking logs and reports
  • Keeps and maintains a neat and organized area
  • Band pallets of waste paper using hand bander as required outside baler room
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
  • Comply with all company rules and regulations
  • Needs to know how to load and read scales and weight distribution when loading trailers
