About The Position

Feeds, transports, handles and prepares material for in process or finished goods processing and Operates, monitors or tends machines to perform a variety of related operations in the manufacture of products. Work to quality standards and specifications in accordance with established practices, processes, regulations, guidelines and standards in a safe and efficient manner.

Requirements

  • Sufficient education to meet language, mathematical and reasoning ability requirements and three (3) months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers.
  • Ability to add, subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Perform the four basic arithmetic operations with coins as part of a dollar.
  • Perform operations with units such as cup, pint, and quart; inch, foot, and yard; and ounce and pound.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic technology literacy and basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have the ability to read, understand & interpret computerized panels and/or operate a handheld electronic/mobile device.
  • Certification for the operation of industrial trucks may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Abide by, enforce and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all company safety standards and regulations.
  • Complete production work orders by following written or verbal instructions and/or sample assemblies.
  • Set-up materials, and operate and tend manually controlled and/or automated manufacturing equipment/machine according to guidelines and work instructions.
  • Activate machine/equipment to start a production cycle.
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed) as needed based on customer/product specifications.
  • Feed raw material to semi-automated machines.
  • Inspect products using measuring tools to ensure conformity to specifications.
  • Check output for mistakes, product flaws and/or product contamination.
  • Test operation of machines periodically, and report issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain production records of approved and defective units or final products in accordance with work instruction or standard operating procedures.
  • Recordkeeping done manually or by data entry, such as daily production reports, process checklists, timekeeping, scrap & reject results and/or machine time.
  • Handle a wide variety of configurations and specifications.
  • Calculate and configure material used in production process to maximize yield and conform to specification(s) and quality standards.
  • Select required material and/or feed, handle, prepare and/or weigh/measure material based on calculation for in-process or finished goods processes.
  • Communicate with supervisor and relevant personnel on the condition of the operation/production and any unusual circumstances or issues to facilitate processes and ensure efficient operations.
  • Effectively clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
  • Actively contribute to continuous process improvement.
  • Train more junior or new associates in appropriate safety procedures, work instructions and quality standards.
  • Actively contribute to continuous process improvement.
  • Participate in training and continuous learning opportunities; meet training and/or certification requirements of the job, department, product or area as designated/defined in work instructions and quality standards.
