Responsibilities

  • Maintain an enthusiastic atmosphere focused on fast and friendly customer service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation ideas.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director as needed.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via phone, intercom, and in‑person interactions.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of all department roles and assist with preparation, product display, and general department functions.
  • Implement proper and efficient product preparation, packaging, and merchandising techniques.
  • Maintain bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Ensure all areas, equipment, and workspaces meet cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards.
  • Monitor and maintain correct temperatures during preparation, display, and storage.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • Control inventory levels to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness in alignment with division directives.
  • Stock, rotate, and organize product in the cooler and freezer.
  • Minimize shrink and manage department costs.
  • Build displays, rotate stock, and remove outdated or spoiled product.
  • Oversee receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating.
  • Adhere to temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; complete physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Ensure proper code dating is enforced for all department products.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees to ensure proper coverage and service levels.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes in accordance with company procedures and profitability goals.
  • Provide training on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Identify and develop employees with high potential for advancement.
  • Monitor employee productivity and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Initiate personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain accurate department records and process required administrative paperwork.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Uphold and enforce all department standards.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays to support sales initiatives.
