About The Position

The Bakery Department Clerk is responsible for performing essential duties with accuracy and maintaining a high level of productivity. This role focuses on excellent customer relations, maintaining department morale, and adhering to company policies. Key tasks include handling bakery products such as pricing, dating, wrapping, and bagging, as well as merchandising displays. The clerk must also possess knowledge of bakery items to assist customers and ensure product quality and cost control.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty with accuracy and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Ability to exhibit and develop maximum customer relations through friendly and courteous behavior.
  • Ability to promote a high level of morale within department and store, utilizing friendly but professional methods of honest and open communication.
  • Ability to comply with all company policies, programs and directives as specified in the Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to continually strive to build knowledge and skills, both personally and within the department and store through training and education of self and other team members.
  • Capability of pricing, dating, and wrapping or bagging of all bakery products in accordance with the department and store’s policies.
  • Capability of recognizing the quality of and distinguishing between the many different bakery products.
  • Capability of filling, arranging, rotating and merchandising displays and display cases within the Bakery Department.
  • Ability to price and code date all bakery products clearly and accurately.
  • Ability to receive special orders properly and use suggestive selling methods when possible.
  • Ability to maintain attractive and appealing cases and displays for increased sales.
  • Ability to maintain product quality and cost control to maximize sales and profits and minimize losses.
  • Possesses knowledge of bakery items, descriptions and ingredients so as to better serve our guests and answer any questions that might arise.
