The Bakery Clerk is responsible for proofing and baking unfinished bakery goods according to product handling information, using ovens and other equipment. This role involves unpacking bakery goods from the freezer and displaying appropriate amounts based on production charts, ensuring safe handling and storage. The clerk must also maintain all cleaning and safety standards within the bakery department. Team members are expected to carry out job functions, support club policies, act with honesty and integrity, prioritize member satisfaction, ensure a safe and positive environment, embrace inclusion and diversity, collaborate respectfully, work as a team, operate with speed and agility, innovate, adapt, and maintain a friendly and positive attitude. Understanding departmental production and financial reporting and recognizing the impact of consistent execution on business performance are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of this job.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a bakery or customer service oriented environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of bakery products preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Answer questions and recommend bakery items to members.
  • Answer Member calls and take special orders.
  • Proof and bake unfinished bakery goods following product handling information using ovens and other equipment.
  • Use bakery production charts as a guide for production and display needs.
  • Gather products for the next business day.
  • Package freshly baked goods, including cookies, Danish pastries, muffins, rolls, breads, pies, cakes, and other items as needed.
  • Unpack bakery goods from the freezer and display proper amounts based on bakery production chart recommendations.
  • Decorate special order or case products.
  • Rotate and store bakery products following proper work methods on food safety, food freshness, and product handling policies and procedures.
  • Receive, inspect, and store bakery shipments.
  • Ensure that all products are fresh and meet company quality standards.
  • Check for out-of-date products daily and follow salvage and stale product policies and procedures.
  • Generate labels and price tickets for bakery goods and perform price check functions when necessary.
  • Ensure all items are accurately priced.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment, display fixtures, and food surfaces in the bakery, including ovens, cooking utensils, refrigerated cases, display racks, and tables.
  • Operate and handle bakery equipment using proper work methods in accordance with safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all club policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including working in other departments as needed.
  • Maintain regular, predictable, full attendance.
  • Support the application of club policies, procedures and compliance.
  • Act with honesty and integrity and lead with the member in mind to address any and all concerns and to escalate any concerns, as appropriate.

  • Work as a team to deliver GOLD club standards daily (Grand opening look, all items stocked and promotional plans executed, maintain visible accurate signage, clean and organized, inside and out).
  • Understand how to access and read production and/or financial performance reporting for your department.
