About The Position

This role is for a Backhaul Driver at US Foods, one of the largest food distributors in the foodservice industry, partnering with approximately 300,000 restaurants and foodservice operators. The company is committed to Total Rewards that respect and reward associates. The position involves component pay based on miles, pick-up rate, and waiting time, with a minimum daily pay of $275.00. The schedule is typically Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays, and dispatch times vary between 1:00 am and 6:00 am, sometimes as late as 11:00 am, with shifts lasting 12-14 hours per day. Flexibility with the schedule is required, and there might be some overnight pickups. Days and hours are subject to change based on business needs.

Requirements

  • Register to the FMCSA Clearinghouse
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications
  • Minimum of six months commercial driving experience or three months commercial driving experience in the food and/or beverage delivery industry required
  • Willingness to travel 2-3 times per week required
  • Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations

Responsibilities

  • Safely drive truck to vendors and company drop-off sites
  • Verify freight on truck, required trailer temperatures and accuracy of freight with vendors
  • Return tractor and trailer to division when route is completed
  • Perform all pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspection
