About the Job This role supports the smooth operation of the medical office by handling both clinical and administrative responsibilities. The Back Office Medical Assistant will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare staff to ensure patients receive efficient and compassionate care. The position includes rooming patients, preparing them for exams, documenting vital signs, and assisting with procedures. Additionally, the role involves maintaining accurate patient records, managing medical supplies, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. This position is based in Chowchilla, CA, and reports directly to the office manager or clinical supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Medical Assistant, preferably working across multiple practices (OBGYN, PCP, Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Labs).
  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Proficient in taking vital signs, patient rooming, clinical documentation, basic lab procedures, and patient communication.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, electronic health record (EHR) systems, HIPAA regulations, and infection control procedures.
  • Physically fit to stand, walk, and communicate with providers and patients throughout the day.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • CMA (Certified Medical Assistant) or RMA (Registered Medical Assistant) license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations, including taking vital signs, medical history, and current medications.
  • Assist physicians and nurses with clinical procedures and examinations.
  • Administer medications and injections as directed by the provider.
  • Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs, and laboratory specimen collection.
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Sterilize and maintain medical instruments and examination rooms.
  • Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Support the front office team as needed with patient intake and communication.
  • Monitor and restock medical supplies to ensure uninterrupted clinical operations.
  • Assist in quality improvement initiatives and follow safety protocols.
