Job Overview Under the supervision of the program director and staff, the Bachelor’s-level intern will support families by providing prevention services, resources, parent engagement activities, and assistance with center operations and events. Throughout the internship, the intern will build skills in navigating community resources, understanding issues affecting the program’s population, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating effectively with coworkers, volunteers, participants, and partner agencies. As an integrated health organization Acenda values the use of evidence-based practice or EBP's. Program Info Family Success Centers are community-based, family-centered neighborhood gathering places where community residents go for family support, interactive workshops, activities, and groups. Family Success Centers are beautiful spaces designed to bring the community together to build relationships, strengthen the community and the families in it. They are places where residents and volunteers share their time and talent to build community capacity and enrich the lives of community members, and make families and neighborhoods stronger. A variety of family friendly events take place each month. We offer fun and educational workshops and activities, connection to resources, and volunteer opportunities. All services are free and open to all families in the community.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelors degree program or a recent graduate (within a year)
  • Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgment under all circumstances
  • Must be able to analyze work, set goals, develop plans and utilize time effectively and efficiently
  • Successfully pass the background check
  • Flexibility for scheduling between Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9AM-5PM and Tuesday 11AM-7PM

Responsibilities

  • Provide prevention programs, information, resources, and support to families and individuals
  • Facilitate parent engagement and parent leadership at the center
  • Increase the family’s ability to problem solve and advocate for themselves and their children
  • Participate and assist in coordination of center operations, activities and events
  • Navigate community resources and become aware of social services, agencies, and community organizations
  • Educate self on issues impacting program population
  • Complete and submit accurate written reports and documentation per established guidelines within established time frames
  • Submit Level of Service (LOS) within online reporting system
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers, volunteers, participants, and agency partners
