About The Position

Manages and implements various accounting procedures in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, local, state, and federal laws, and regulations. Participate in the department's performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience in use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent computer knowledge.
  • Minimum of a four-year accounting degree or a two-year degree with three continuous years of experience.
  • Employees must show basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in healthcare preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate and timely general ledger and statistical information for the healthcare system.
  • Interacts with and provides accurate and timely information to internal and external stakeholders including third party payers, consultants, financial auditors, senior staff in all entities (hospital, clinic, nursing home, assisted living, wellness center, and foundation), department managers and co-workers.
  • Ensures the Accounting Department is following hospital policies and procedures.
  • Super-user of accounting software, currently One Chart, Lawson, Paycom and Workday.
  • Ability to develop budget projections and analyze trends.
  • Assists with Audits and cost reports.
  • Assists with balancing problems when reconciling hospital bank accounts.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the healthcare finance/ accounting industry by active participation in the Healthcare Financial Management Association.
  • Technologically savvy and highly functional with MS Office, Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Treats all staff with fairness, respect, and honesty.
  • Exemplifies commitment to the organization by “going the extra mile” in all situations and interactions with co-workers.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains affiliation with professional organizations; attends continuing education classes.
  • Meets dress code standards; appearance is neat and clean.
  • Completes annual educational requirements.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Resolves personnel concerns at the departmental level, utilizing the grievance process as required.
  • Actively participates in the department's continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
  • Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
