About The Position

At the Y, we believe every young person deserves a safe place to grow, learn, and belong. As a B.A.S.E. (Before & After School Enrichment) Site Coordinator, you’ll play a vital role in creating that space. You’ll lead engaging, high-quality programs that spark curiosity, build confidence, and foster meaningful relationships. More than just supervision, this role is about mentorship, connection, and creating experiences that help youth discover who they are and what they’re capable of.

Requirements

  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Have completed twelve college credits in any one hundred-level or above college coursework or equivalent as approved and verified in the electronic workforce registry by DCYF at time of hire or promoted into this position AND complete an additional 18 credits within 5 years.
  • Complete Pre-Hire requirements
  • Complete and pass DCYF background check
  • Negative TB test within previous 12 months
  • Complete Training requirements
  • Complete Praesidium Child Abuse prevention training within 15 days of hire date.
  • Bloodborne Pathogens Training
  • DCYF Mandated Reporter - Recognizing and Reporting child abuse Training
  • DCYF Disaster and Emergency Preparedness Training
  • DCYF Medication Management Training
  • DCYF School Age Child Care Program Orientation
  • CPR & First Aid (adult, child and infant) Training
  • Food Handler Permit
  • STARS 30 Hour School Age Basic Training (Must be completed within 3 months of hire date; this is an unpaid training with reimbursement available from WA State)
  • Ten hours of continuing education annually
  • Ten hours of leadership practices every thirty-six months
  • A genuine passion for working with youth
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • A warm, patient, and engaging approach to building relationships
  • The ability to create inclusive environments that honor diverse perspectives
  • A commitment to safety, accountability, and positive role modeling

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee daily program activities aligned with YMCA values and state licensing requirements
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where every child feels they belong
  • Supervise youth, staff, and program operations with care and professionalism
  • Build strong relationships with youth through positive engagement, encouragement, and mentorship
  • Guide and support staff through coaching, communication, and leadership
  • Collaborate with families, schools, and community partners to support each child’s growth
  • Foster positive peer interactions and help youth develop social-emotional skills
  • Encourage youth leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving
  • Use positive behavior guidance strategies that promote self-awareness and confidence
  • Maintain accurate program records and ensure compliance with health, safety, and licensing standards
  • Prepare and serve snacks/meals in accordance with guidelines
  • Participate in family events, trainings, and team meetings
  • Uphold YMCA policies, including youth protection and mandated reporting requirements
