The Cloud and Connectivity organization is actively looking for an AWS Platform Engineer to join our team. What You’ll Be Doing: You will work extensively with AWS Platform Operations, focusing on AWS PaaS and IaaS services such as Amazon RDS, serverless technologies, and related platform services. Your primary objectives will be to qualify AWS services, build robust CI/CD pipelines, and automate service provisioning and management at enterprise scale. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Lilly subject matter experts (SMEs), Cloud Infrastructure teams, and self‑service enablement teams to introduce enhancements, expand automation capabilities, and ensure systems are secure, compliant, scalable, and cost‑effective. You will also be responsible for strengthening platform security by performing vulnerability scans, remediation activities, and timely platform upgrades aligned with Lilly security standards.

Requirements

  • Strong hands‑on experience with AWS IaaS and PaaS services, including compute, databases, IAM, monitoring, and security.
  • Proven experience with CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, and Terraform in enterprise environments.
  • Proficiency in Python scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS CloudWatch, logging, observability, and performance optimization techniques.
  • Experience managing Git repositories and applying source‑control best practices.
  • Hands‑on experience with vulnerability remediation, platform upgrades, and security hardening.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow or similar ITSM/ticketing tools.
  • Strong documentation skills to support Security and CSQA standards.
  • High School Diploma/GED with 5+ years of as an AWS Platform Engineer or DevOps Engineer in an enterprise environment, with a strong focus on automation, scripting, and CI/CD pipeline development and management.
  • Experience with AWS Databases and hybrid (SQL/ Oracle).
  • AWS Certification, Admin or above

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain end‑to-end CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools to automate build, test, and deployment workflows for AWS platforms.
  • Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation and/or Terraform, applying modular and reusable patterns across environments.
  • Provision and manage AWS infrastructure and platform services including EC2, RDS, Redshift, DynamoDB, Lambda, and related services with high availability and scalability in mind.
  • Manage Git repositories and branching strategies, enforce pull request approvals, code reviews, and quality gates, and secure repositories using GitHub Advanced Security.
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions using AWS CloudWatch, Log Insights, and/or Splunk to ensure platform reliability and performance.
  • Manage identity, access, and security controls using AWS IAM and AWS Identity Center, ensuring fine‑grained access and compliance with Lilly standards.
  • Automate routine operational tasks using Python, PowerShell, Bash, AWS CLI, YAML, and JSON, enabling repeatable and self‑service capabilities.
  • Provide L2/L3 operational support, troubleshoot incidents and outages, perform root cause analysis (RCA), and implement preventative measures.
  • Enforce governance and cost‑management best practices to maintain efficient and sustainable cloud environments.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and architecture diagrams to support Security and CSQA compliance.
