About The Position

Under the general direction of the Vice President, Risk Management will lead the development and implementation of safety and workers compensation programs to support the achievement of strategic goals and objectives. Assists in the establishment of other appropriate processes, programs and practices to prevent or mitigate risks to minimize financial impact to the airport and to protect its employees and assets. Directly responsible for the performance delivery of the Safety and Workers Compensation program functions, which includes Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), workers compensation, and return to work programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Risk Management, Legal, Safety, Engineering, Finance, or another related field.
  • Eight (8) years of experience with a strong focus on safety and leave management programs.
  • Six (6) years of progressively responsible management experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be substituted for the above.
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license.
  • Knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations governing public entities including OSHA, DOL, and FAA.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing and implementing change management initiatives.
  • Skill in communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, at all levels within and outside the Board to gather data, provide support, and resolve conflicts.
  • Ability to demonstrate commitment, initiative, independent action and versatility while embracing challenging and diverse assignments.
  • Exhibits business process knowledge, possesses a broad-based operational perspective and provides solutions for non-insurance related business risk issues, while adapting to changes in the industry. Seeks ways to optimize risks in the organization as a competitive business advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the cultivation and relationship management with internal and external stakeholders and business partners on safety and leave management issues.
  • Support the VP of Risk in the development, implementation and evolution of the Airport's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Framework.
  • Responsible for the overall facilitation and promotion of the ERM process and provisions of risk management delivery support. Designs, delivers and maintains education training and awareness programs in support of the Airport's ERM initiatives.
  • Manage all Safety Assessment activities and leverages relationships to ensure that audit action items are closed in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the review of the comprehensive insurance program for the Airport that includes the solicitation and renewal of coverages involving areas such as: all risk property, general liability, environmental impairment liability, public official liability, PFIC director and officer's liability, fiduciary liability, auto liability, health insurance stop loss, ambassador accident coverage, custom bonds, crime/fidelity, excess workers' compensation liability.
  • Recommend and administer Risk Management policies and procedures around health, safety, and leave administration.
  • Provide oversight into the claims management systems and process to ensure that claims are appropriately and proactively managed.
  • Manage the implementation and operation of a comprehensive Risk Management Information System (RMIS) and claims management systems which include utilizing RMIS reporting to analyze risk trends.
  • Manage the compliance of Risk Management policies through ongoing reviews with key stakeholders and business partners. Leads and manages a staff.
  • Create and implement training and development strategy for employees to ensure compliance and staff development.
  • Assist the VP with the Risk Management department's organizational resiliency efforts, including leading the department's role in emergency response, business continuity, IT disaster recovery and crisis management planning; may act as Emergency Operation Center Manager during major incidents or disasters.
  • Assist in the development and management of Risk Management's budget, funding requests, and justifications.
  • Direct the collection and analysis of Risk department performance metrics; manages the benchmarking of Risk Management services, benefits and features with comparison organizations and industry standard; recommends staffing levels, proposes capital spending projects; makes recommendations to improve customer service and/or control costs.
  • Manage audit requirements and processes, internally and externally.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by VP to further the Risk vision.
