The Role: The AVP Pharmacy Operations – Retail and Specialty is a senior pharmacy executive responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial leadership of the Providence Pharmacy Service Line, including Specialty Pharmacy, Retail Pharmacy, Central Fill operations, and the Pharmacotherapy Clinic. This role requires a licensed pharmacist with extensive health ‑ system pharmacy leadership experience. The AVP plans, organizes, and directs all pharmacy programs within scope and addresses challenges associated with operating in a rapidly changing healthcare environment, maintaining market competitiveness, and integrating diverse pharmacy services within the communities served. The role is accountable for building scalable, integrated pharmacy services that improve access, affordability, clinical outcomes, and overall enterprise performance. What You'll Do: Enterprise Strategy & Growth Provide executive leadership for specialty, retail, central fill, and pharmacotherapy clinic service lines. Develop and execute growth strategies, market positioning, and expansion initiatives across pharmacy segments. Lead enterprise pharmacy strategy, including patient access, network integration, and care model optimization. Drive enterprise retail and specialty pharmacy growth and competitive positioning. Operational Excellence & Performance Ensure operational excellence, quality, regulatory compliance, and financial performance across all pharmacy services. Optimize service line performance through data ‑ driven decision ‑ making, KPIs, and performance dashboards. Establish governance structures, business plans, and scalable operating models. Provide executive guidance for central fill operations and scalable distribution models. Clinical Programs & Care Integration Oversee clinical program development, including chronic disease management and specialty therapies. Ensure seamless integration of pharmacy services across acute and retail environments. Drive medication access, affordability, adherence, and value ‑ based pharmacy initiatives. Compliance & Risk Management Maintain and advance compliance frameworks for URAC, ACHC, and state boards of pharmacy. Ensure adherence to pharmacy regulations, accreditation standards, and payer requirements. People Leadership & Strategic Partnerships Lead workforce planning, leadership development, and talent management across pharmacy services. Strengthen collaboration with medical group leadership and key stakeholders across the enterprise. Lead key internal and external relationships and partnerships, including payer relations, specialty networks, and M&A ‑ related initiatives, in close collaboration with clinical shared services leadership. What You'll Bring: Education & Licensure Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred. Master’s Degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field (preferred) . Preferred: Licensed Pharmacist with eligibility for licensure in applicable Providence states, including OR, WA, CA, TX, AK, MT, and NM (vendor managed). Leadership & Experience 10+ years of leadership experience. 10+ years of experience as a Pharmacy Manager or Specialty Pharmacy Program Leader. Executive leadership experience across specialty pharmacy and retail pharmacy operations. Experience with payer relations and specialty network management. Professional & Executive Capabilities Proven ability to lead complex operational teams and deliver measurable performance improvements. The full pay range is listed in accordance with applicable law. Final compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, organizational compensation alignment, and the approved hiring department budget for the position. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation and benefits. Further, we want our leaders to live in or near the communities we serve. Therefore, leaders applying for this role will be required to work a hybrid schedule, which consists of three days onsite, two days remote and live within a reasonable commuting distance to the ministry or service area they support and lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy; PharmD preferred.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience.
