About The Position

We are looking for a driven and experienced IT Technical Lead to support the strategic leadership of the IT function at Allied World. In this role, you will oversee critical technology initiatives, ensure operational excellence, and manage a team of IT professionals. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and business acumen, with a focus on delivering innovative solutions to meet the company's goals. This role is placed within then IT Actuarial Product working closely with the pricing and reserving actuarial team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • 9+ years of experience in IT roles, with at least 4 years in a leadership position.
  • Proven ability to manage complex IT projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of modern development principles and best practices.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, compliance, and IT governance best practices.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and enterprise systems.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience in budgeting and financial management for software delivery teams.
  • Prior experience in the insurance industry is highly desirable, specifically working with pricing and/or reserving actuaries.

Responsibilities

  • Assist senior IT leadership in developing and executing IT strategies that align with organizational objectives.
  • Manage IT projects, including planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and implementation.
  • Oversee the performance and development of IT teams, ensuring high levels of productivity and engagement.
  • Support the design, deployment, and maintenance of IT systems, infrastructure, and applications.
  • Ensure the security, scalability, and compliance of IT operations with industry standards and regulations.
  • Act as a liaison between IT and other departments to identify and address technological needs.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend their adoption to improve business processes and services.
  • Monitor and report on IT performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Assist in managing vendor relationships and negotiating contracts for software, hardware, and services.
