About The Position

The Assistant Vice President (AVP), Epic Project Management Office (PMO) provides executive leadership for Epic‑related project delivery across the organization, including Epic implementations as well as ongoing optimization, maintenance, and support initiatives. This role is responsible for establishing and leading a dedicated Epic PMO that ensures consistent, high‑quality execution across the full Epic lifecycle while aligning delivery to organizational strategy, governance, and operational priorities. This leader is highly data-driven, establishing the metrics, dashboards, and portfolio insights required to drive transparency, improve predictability, and support executive decision-making across the Epic lifecycle. The AVP, Epic PMO partners closely with Epic Services leadership, Operations, Technology, Product, Partnership Success, and the Enterprise PMO (EPMO) to drive predictable outcomes, scalable delivery models, and strong operational performance. This role is also accountable for ensuring the Epic Standard Operating Model (SOM) is fully implemented and validated for each client prior to transition to steady‑state optimization and support. The AVP is also adept at identifying, implementing, and operationalizing AI-based solutions to modernize PMO execution, using AI to streamline intake and prioritization, automate routine reporting, accelerate status synthesis, and improve meeting effectiveness through summarization and facilitation capabilities. The AVP, Epic PMO reports directly to the VP, Digital Strategy & Innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in healthcare IT, Epic delivery, or enterprise program management.
  • Demonstrated experience building and leading a PMO in an Epic or healthcare technology environment.
  • Strong executive presence and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong experience in revenue cycle.

Nice To Haves

  • Epic certification(s).
  • PMP or similar certification.
  • Consulting or multi‑client healthcare services experience.
  • Familiarity with Monday.com

Responsibilities

  • PMO Strategy & Leadership Establish and lead the Epic PMO, including defining vision, operating model, standards, governance, and delivery expectations.
  • Develop and maintain scalable project management methodologies, tools, and best practices for Epic implementations and support initiatives.
  • Provide executive oversight of the Epic project portfolio, ensuring alignment to strategic priorities, capacity, timelines, and budgets.
  • Define and operationalize a dashboard and metrics-driven PMO model, including delivery KPIs, portfolio health indicators, and capacity/utilization signals that enable objective prioritization, executive decision-making, and transparency into delivery, risks, dependencies, throughput, and outcomes.
  • Epic Implementation, Optimization & Support Oversight Own accountability for successful delivery of Epic implementations, major upgrades, enhancements, and ongoing support initiatives.
  • Ensure Epic Standard Operating Models (SOMs) are fully implemented, adopted, and validated prior to handoff to optimization teams.
  • Establish clear exit criteria and governance for transitions from implementation to steady‑state support.
  • Partner with Product, Operations, and Readiness leaders to ensure Epic build, workflows, and integrated areas (like appointment conversion, cutover, etc) align to defined standards.
  • Governance, Intake & Prioritization Lead and support Epic project intake, prioritization, and governance processes.
  • Ensure alignment between Epic demand, resource capacity, and enterprise initiatives.
  • Drive transparency and consistency in Epic delivery decision‑making.
  • Executive & Client Partnership Serve as a senior, executive‑facing leader for Epic delivery performance.
  • Provide executive‑level reporting on portfolio health, risks, outcomes, and value realization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on Epic delivery strategy and sequencing.
  • Partner closely with the Enterprise PMO to align Epic workstreams within broader client integrations.
  • Ensure Epic timelines, dependencies, and risks are fully integrated into enterprise‑level programs.
  • People & Talent Leadership Build, develop, and lead high‑performing Epic PMO talent.
  • Define role expectations, performance standards, and career paths.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify, implement, and scale AI-enabled PMO capabilities to improve productivity, speed of execution, and quality of communication, especially for status synthesis, action tracking, and stakeholder reporting.
