We’re actively seeking a talented AVP Enterprise Data Governance to join our Corporate Technology team in Charlotte, NC. As an AVP Enterprise Data Governance, you will set the direction and vision and lead the execution of our enterprise Data Governance capability. You will establish and lead the implementation and on-going operations of the enterprise-wide PL Data Governance function. You will lead a team of data governance and data quality team members to deliver on the data governance priorities. You manage broader business engagement in the data governance function establishing key business roles and operating model to address all facets of data governance. You will be a partner in establishing and stewarding the data literacy of the PL organization. How you will translate the CDO’s Enterprise Data & AI vision into a scalable governance model that balances innovation with regulatory compliance.: Develop data governance framework and stewardship: Executive data domain owners, business data managers and data stewards Develop policies, standards, controls, quality, metadata, master and reference data management principles. Ensure regulatory, legal, privacy compliance in data usage for PL globally. Define DQ Monitoring Framework and enforce data quality metrics, monitoring, and remediation across all Pl global businesses. Work closely with Data Architecture and Delivery teams to ensure Data Governance and PL Policies and Strategies are implemented including metadata solutions and data quality monitoring and alerting solutions. Direct ongoing data lifecycle management (from creation / ingestion through archival or deletion). Accountable for the delivery of metadata: data catalogues, lineage, dictionaries and glossaries. (Collibra) Participant in the assessment & selection of data governance and data quality software applications. Define and establish best practice to certify Data Sets & reports Lead initiatives to build a data‐driven culture: training, communication, data literacy across functions. Provide oversite and lead data governance working groups and councils. Communicate to the plans, accomplishments of the data governance organization to various audiences, such as senior management, business users, and technical teams Leverage the Enterprise Data Steering Committee and Data governance working groups to make enterprise decision on data domain definitions and how metadata is tracked, stored and made available to users across Pacific Life. Collaboration: Partner with delivery teams, architecture, program management, business data owners and stewards and business stakeholders to understand their data governance needs and partner on solutions with delivery teams. Own definition of data governance capabilities and partner with delivery teams to ensure delivery of Data Governance deliverables required in Data Forward program and all PL data initiatives.

Requirements

  • Computer science, engineering, mathematics, or related field bachelor's degree or higher
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in Data Governance or Data Management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within a large, complex, and highly regulated Financial Services or Insurance (FSI) organization.
  • Deep understanding of the life insurance and annuity business model.
  • Have a high-level understanding of modern data platforms such as Snowflake, or Databricks, and familiar with governance tools Collibra and Monte Carlo
  • Solid understanding of data governance concepts and technologies.
  • Strong working knowledge of global data privacy and insurance regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR, NAIC standards)

  • Outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills, Proven ability to lead and influence without direct authority.
  • Must have a track record of successfully navigating different business units and stakeholders to find common ground and drive enterprise-wide standards.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to deal with ambiguity and complexity
  • Enthusiasm for learning and keeping up with the latest developments and innovations in data engineering
  • Knowledge of data governance frameworks, standards, policies, and best practices
  • Ability to manage and coordinate data projects across multiple teams and departments
  • Awareness of current and emerging data trends, challenges, and opportunities
