The Credit Underwriting Manager provides full leadership and supervisory responsibility. Provides operational/service leadership and direction to team(s). Applies in-depth disciplinary knowledge through provision of value-added perspectives or advisory services. May contribute to the development of new techniques, models and plans within area of expertise. Strong communication and diplomacy skills are required. Generally the Correspondent Mortgage Credit Manager is tasked with overseeing the fast-paced lifecycle of purchasing mortgage loans within the correspondent channel, with a focus on ensuring operational efficiency, adherence to regulatory standards, and achieving high client satisfaction. This role involves timely active management of daily operations, the proactive development and implementation of process improvements, and providing leadership to the operations team. Key responsibilities include managing operational functions such as condition review, purchasing, funding, and post-closing activities. Furthermore, the manager acts as the primary operational liaison for correspondent partners, handling escalations, resolving challenges, and cultivating strong business relationships. A crucial aspect of this role is leading, mentoring, and coaching the operations team, which involves establishing clear performance metrics, monitoring results, and managing performance to uphold accountability. As responsibility for volume, quality, timeliness of end results and shared responsibility for planning and budgets. Work affects an entire area, which eventually affects the overall performance and effectiveness of the sub-function/job family. Full supervisory responsibility, ensuring motivation and development of team through professional leadership to include duties such as performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary and terminations as well as direction of daily tasks and responsibilities.
