About The Position

Role Summary/Purpose: The AVP, Compliance Manager provides Compliance oversight and effective challenge across multiple L3’s with a focus on Credit & Fraud customer facing processes. This role will provide subject matter expertise on consumer protection laws and regulations and deliver targeted reviews, complaint/root cause analysis, issue oversight, and the annual compliance risk assessment for assigned processes. This is an individual contributor role requiring strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to influence partners across the first line. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in Compliance and/or Operational Risk within financial services, or in lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience of compliance risk or credit and/or fraud operations experience within financial services.
  • Ability and flexibility to travel for business as required.
  • You must be 18 years or older
  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process
  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.
  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.
  • Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months’ time in position before they can post.
  • All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the business process owners and client teams to ensure understanding of compliance requirements related to business processes and provide compliance oversight and credible challenge to first line process owners.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of applicable consumer protection laws and regulations (FCRA, ECOA/Reg B, UDAAP, Fair Lending) and translate requirements into practical guidance.
  • Review and challenge job aids, policies, procedures, and business initiatives includes NPI and Agile projects ensuring regulatory risks are identified, requirements are addressed, and controls are appropriately designed and documented.
  • Conduct targeted and concurrent compliance reviews and continuous monitoring for assigned processes;document results, themes, and actions needed.
  • Ensure CTCs are promptly identified, mapped and disseminated to the appropriate process owners.
  • Perform complaint root cause analysis; identify emerging risks and drive sustainable remediation with stakeholders.
  • Provide oversight and challenge for issues aligned to assigned processes, including issue quality (scope, regulatory linkage, root cause) and corrective actions to ensure risks are mitigated and controls are adequate.
  • Help the business embed effective tools, systems and controls for analyzing and monitoring regulatory risks; be an expert on appropriate controls and documentation of compliance management.
  • Execute the annual Compliance Risk Assessment for assigned processes, including risk/control assessment.
  • Escalate significant risks, control gaps, or emerging concerns through appropriate governance channels.
  • Support regulatory exams and audits for assigned areas, including document preparation and stakeholder coordination.
  • Partner with Legal and other 2nd line teams (e.g., Fair Lending, Operational Risk, Credit Risk) to align interpretations and risk coverage.
