An avionics technician installs inspections, tests, and repairs an aircraft’s electronic systems, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate
- 5+ years of hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems and avionics
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
- Must be a proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with strong problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient with common computer tools (MS Office, Adobe, etc)
- Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others.
- Able to read, speak, and understand the English language.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s or associate’sdegree in aviation technology or related field
- Experience with Garmin avionics
- Possess a valid Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
- Experience with fabrication, integration, development, and testing of electrical and avionics systems for rotorcraft applications.
Responsibilities
- Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing malfunctions in navigation, radio, and computer systems, often troubleshooting down to the component level.
- Installation: Installing new avionics equipment, such as glass cockpit upgrades.
- Maintenance: Conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration and safety standards.
- Wiring: Upgrade and repair wire harnesses, connectors, and circuits.
- Perform the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
- Collaborate with engineering teams in the design, development, fabrication, and testing of electrical and avionics systems.
- Conduct functional tests and calibrations to ensure optimal avionics and instrument performance.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and flight crews to ensure safe, timely, and efficient completion of assigned work.
- Report on project status, schedules, and risks.
- Test and maintain test equipment, electronic systems, and components.
- Contributes to company procedures and policies to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
