About The Position

An avionics technician installs inspections, tests, and repairs an aircraft’s electronic systems, including navigation, communication, and flight control systems. They are essential for ensuring flight safety with glass panel upgrades and complex circuitry. Careers require technical training, electrical knowledge, and troubleshooting skills.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience installing and troubleshooting aircraft electrical systems and avionics
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
  • Must be a proven self-starter requiring minimal supervision, with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient with common computer tools (MS Office, Adobe, etc)
  • Team-oriented, possess a positive attitude, and work well with others.
  • Able to read, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s or associate’sdegree in aviation technology or related field
  • Experience with Garmin avionics
  • Possess a valid Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license
  • Experience with fabrication, integration, development, and testing of electrical and avionics systems for rotorcraft applications.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting & Repair: Diagnosing malfunctions in navigation, radio, and computer systems, often troubleshooting down to the component level.
  • Installation: Installing new avionics equipment, such as glass cockpit upgrades.
  • Maintenance: Conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with Federal Aviation Administration and safety standards.
  • Wiring: Upgrade and repair wire harnesses, connectors, and circuits.
  • Perform the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems on aircraft in accordance with engineering specifications, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams in the design, development, fabrication, and testing of electrical and avionics systems.
  • Conduct functional tests and calibrations to ensure optimal avionics and instrument performance.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with other technicians, engineers, and flight crews to ensure safe, timely, and efficient completion of assigned work.
  • Report on project status, schedules, and risks.
  • Test and maintain test equipment, electronic systems, and components.
  • Contributes to company procedures and policies to ensure efficient and safe work practices.
