AVID Tutor (temporary for the 2026-2027 school year)

About The Position
To aid and support student s and the District by providing tutoring services to AVID elective students.
Requirements
- College student with a minimum of 60 hours and 2.8 G.P.A.
- Strong Math and English background, evidenced by college transcript
- Must attend six (6) hours of AVID training
Nice To Haves
- Bachelors or Associate degree (Preferred)
Responsibilities
- Determine, from student notes and discussions, the concepts that need to be reviewed.
- Evaluate student binders, including calendars, class and textbook notes, etc.
- Assist students in any subject area where help is needed.
- Assist in teaching study skills and other skills needed for college preparation.
- Conduct tutorial sessions in all areas of mathematics.
- Conduct mini-lessons in the process of writing in all subject areas, study skills and other aspects of college preparation.
- Set an example of personal excellence and high expectations for AVID students to follow.
- Work with students in any phase of the writing process, such as brainstorming, clustering, revision and editing.
- Communicate frequently and honestly with the AVID Site Coordinator/teacher regarding student progress and areas of concern.
- Must attend six (6) hours of AVID training
- Perform other duties as assigned.
