About The Position

This role supports serves as a crucial bridge between incoming flight students, Flight Training Operations, and internal administrative teams. Utilizing a strong foundation in aeronautics and commercial flight training, the Aviation Specialist advises students on flight progression, regulatory requirements for advanced certifications, and the financial planning required to complete their pilot training. By leveraging direct knowledge of the aviation industry and pilot training pathways, this role ensures students are fully prepared for advanced programs, including Jet transition and ATP/CTP, while smoothing their operational onboarding.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of relevant experience, or an associate degree with 2–4 years of related experience
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the aviation industry, flight training progressions, and pilot career pathways.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to navigate challenging conversations and confidently de-escalate concerns using industry- specific knowledge.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, capable of managing multiple students training profiles simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems, student information systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, Aeronautical Science, or a closely related aviation field preferred.
  • Practical experience in the aviation industry, with a strong preference for candidates holding FAA pilot credentials (e.g. Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument Rating).
  • Experience in aviation operations, flight student advising, or team-leadership role within the aerospace sector.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary aviation resource for prospective and incoming students, utilizing formal aeronautical training to provide expert guidance on flight training timelines and FAA certification milestones.
  • Mentor students on industry standards and career expectations, helping them stay on track for their specific training start dates and flight progression goals.
  • Deliver high-quality mentorship by addressing complex questions regarding pilot training phases, routing specialized operational concerns to the appropriate flight or ground school teams.
  • Partner with Admissions, Flight Operations, Student Finance, and Customer Relations to support a seamless onboarding experience for flight students.
  • Evaluate student training needs and coordinate ATP/CTP and Jet Transition support, requiring a deep understanding of the prerequisites and aeronautical knowledge needed for these advanced courses.
  • Act as a central liaison across campus locations, bridging the gap between student pilots and internal operations to resolve training and scheduling concerns.
  • Provide high-level guidance on the financial requirements of flight training, helping students understand funding timelines relative to their anticipated flight hours and certification goals.
  • Monitor application and funding progress through internal systems, keeping students informed of the next operational steps in their flight training journey.
  • Translate complex financial and eligibility requirements to students, escalating specific issues to Student Finance to prevent delays in their training progression.
