About The Position

Under direct supervision, this position provides advanced housekeeping, security, and facilities services throughout Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) and the AUS campus.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus two (2) years of experience related to janitorial services, including one (1) year of experience which was in operating of janitorial heavy equipment and machinery. Experience may substitute for education up to a maximum of four (4) years
• Valid Texas Class C Driver License within ninety (90) days of hire.
• Knowledge of janitorial processes and procedures.
• Knowledge of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and Transportation Security Administration (TSA) regulations and mandates and City, departmental, State, and Local rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of FAA and TSA Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) regulations and requirements.
• Knowledge of Airline Baggage Hygiene procedures.
• Skill in establishing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with others.
• Skill in operating vehicles and janitorial heavy equipment and machinery.

• Ability to work in environments with exposure to vibrations, noise, mechanical and chemical hazards, fume and odor hazards, toxic waste and material hazards.
• Ability to work with possible contact with blood and other potentially infectious materials.

Responsibilities

• Provides facility maintenance, security, emergency services, general and detailed cleaning and disinfecting services using heavy and specialized equipment, and moving and arranging services for airport terminals and campus.
• Operates a variety of cleaning equipment or machinery such as high lifts, scrubbers, buffers, burnishers, pressure washers, and power washers; maintains knowledge in operating and cleaning equipment.
• Works in conjunction with airport personnel to ensure security and safety for airport facilities; ensures facility lockdown to include closets, offices, entrance and exit doors; monitors for security breaches, unattended packages, and suspicious persons and activities, etc.; and reports any unsafe and suspicious activity to airport personnel.
• Evacuates customers and isolates airport facilities when emergencies arise such as security breaches, bad weather, and fire emergencies.
• Provides customer service to passengers, tenants, contractors, employees, and management upon request by providing solicited and unsolicited information.
• Operates City vehicles for transporting propane, material, etc. on airport ramps.
• Performs administrative duties and responsibilities to include completing forms, logs, and personal timesheets.
• Utilizes biohazard clean-up methods and monitors and replaces biohazard syringe boxes.
• Performs cash handling duties.
• Responds to calls for lost and found items.
• May provide leadership, work assignments, evaluation, and guidance to others.
