About Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Owned by the City of Austin and operated by the Department of Aviation, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is an economic engine, supplying over 74,000 direct and indirect jobs in the Central Texas region. Under general supervision, perform a variety of moderately complex engineering and technical tasks in support of the Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition Baggage Handling System (SCADA-BHS) projects and assignments. Exercise judgment within the defined methods, procedures, and practices.

Requirements

  • Graduation with a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or Mathematics plus two(2) years in a field related to SCADA or Baggage Handling Process Control.
  • Experience may substitute for education up to four years
  • Valid State of Texas Class “C” Driver License
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and fluently speak in English.
  • External New Hires must meet the City of Austin’s Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) requisite. To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.
  • Job Offer is contingent on having a driving record that meets the City’s Driver Record Evaluation Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Supports 24/7 real-time control system integrity and ensure the highest operational reliability and system availability. This requires after hours on-call support to meet the response requirements for restoring the mission critical system.
  • Assists with the daily operation and maintenance of the SCADA System, leads the daily maintenance of the system to accomplish the best performance; communicates with dispatchers, engineers and field crews; performs trouble shooting, problem analysis and resolution as required.
  • Conducts field inspections of baggage handling system
  • Coordinates and analyzes the real-time control system user’s request; develops and implements enhancements or modifications requested in a timely manner.
  • Communicates activity status to customers and management
  • Perform application programming activities, including coding, testing, debugging, documentation and system modifications
  • Configures and programs process control applications (Human Machine Interfaces), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) functions
  • Updates, maintains, and documents security controls. Enforces security policies and procedures by administering and monitoring data security profiles.
  • Develops, analyzes, and generates engineering reports.
  • Stays abreast of the changing technology environment. Keeps up with the latest developments in the baggage handling industry.
  • Assists with writing technical and business documentation (including audit and training manuals).
  • Maintains stock and parts inventories and documentation for all systems
