About The Position

The paralegal will be responsible for dealing with delegated work within their own areas of competence and achieving performance targets as set by the practice. Also, he/she will be responsible for research, drafting legal documents, and providing support to the solicitors and Head of Department, as well as dealing with their own caseload and dealing with clients. To efficiently, responsibly and actively manage an allocated caseload and ensure that cases are progressed properly and timeously. To provide any support required by the Head of Department, by the Department’s solicitor(s), or by others within the firm. To act on behalf of Head of Department as required. To positively promote quality of service to clients, raising the quality level wherever possible. To build and maintain good, effective working relationships with clients and with colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Dealing with delegated cases as required, reporting progress to the Head of Department
  • Ensure quality of service standards met or exceeded
  • Follow internal methods, policies, and procedures as set by the Office Manual
  • Carry out file reviews as appropriate

  • Carry out appropriate preparation for
  • Assist during hearings by taking notes, preparing exhibits, preparing files, and reading court transcripts
  • Liaise with courts, counsel, counsel's clerks, and
  • Prepare Briefs to
  • Carry out legal research. Remain informed of changes in any area of specialisation, such that service quality is always maintained.
  • Deal promptly with
  • Adhere to accurate and comprehensive file management and maintenance practices according to company policy and procedures. Use the company’s case management
  • Record working time in accordance with company policy and
  • Work as part of a team and demonstrate a collaborative approach without diluting individual responsibility.
  • Gather relevant information and evidence on a case. This includes researching the facts of the case as well as identifying the appropriate law, judicial decisions, and legal articles relevant to the case.
  • Draft legal documents, including pleadings, application notices and witness
  • To have conduct on civil litigations claims from the beginning to the end.
  • Respond to clients’ requests, emails and post in a prompt and professional manner; answer telephones/emails in a professional manner.
  • Carry out other types of administrative duties such as billing and invoicing.
  • Network with clients and build valuable relationships in a way that enhances the company’s reputation.
  • Any other hoc duties as directed by the Head of Department, the Department’s solicitors, or Directors.
