The Autonomy Systems Engineer researches, develops, designs and validates mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic hardware and associated control logic for use in large mining haul trucks and/or large autonomous mining haul trucks. Responsibilities Level 1: Develops mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems for use on large mining haul trucks and/or large autonomous mining haul trucks Performs system calculations and/or simulations Creates schematic representations of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electro mechanical systems Interfaces with other disciplines (Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, etc.) to create specifications/requirements that outline control system logic necessary for haul truck functions Writes software and/or uses model based design techniques to develop software modules Develops detailed test requests to initiate both component and system level testing and validation Works independently and as a team member with other engineers, designers, and production personnel or on ad hoc projects Participates in the Engineering Development Program Level 2: Demonstrated proficiency of Systems Engineer Level 1, plus: Research electric and hydraulic components for use in control systems Level 3: Demonstrated proficiency of Systems Engineer Level 2, plus: Researches solutions to optimize system designs and parameters with analytical methods Interfaces with other disciplines (Mechanical, Hydraulic, Electrical, etc.) to specify proper control components (PLC’s, computing platforms, HMI, and other associated hardware) Estimates time and cost requirements for the development and serial production of haul truck systems Researches and analyzes customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data Confers with Engineers and other personnel to develop operating procedures, resolve system malfunctions, and provide technical information Level 4 (Senior): Demonstrated proficiency of Systems Engineer Level 3, plus: Trains, mentors, and develops Engineers and other personnel on operating procedures, resolving system malfunctions, and providing technical information.
