Why This Role Matters As a Staff Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in defining subsystem-level strategy and influencing platform-wide architecture for sensors and embedded systems. This is a highly technical and strategic position—driving forward-looking solutions, optimizing system-level performance, and ensuring seamless integration across compute and sensor domains. You’ll collaborate with world-class engineers and senior leadership to align technical vision with business goals, mentor others, and help shape the roadmap for next-generation autonomous platforms. Autonomous systems depend on robust, forward-looking sensor and embedded architecture. Your leadership will set technical direction, ensure platform scalability, and influence industry standards, impacting millions of customers and shaping the future of mobility.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded systems, or sensor integration.
  • Bachelors Degree in relevant field or relevant work experience.
  • Recognized expertise in system engineering processes, embedded architectures, and safety-critical design principles.
  • Experience in one or more of our key technology areas: sensor platforms, operating systems, or middleware.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded systems, or sensor integration.
  • Deep knowledge of ISO 26262 and functional safety standards.
  • Ability to read/understand source code (C/C++) and system models.
  • Familiarity with automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, Ethernet).
  • Experience defining technical roadmaps and influencing platform-wide decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Define subsystem-level strategy and influence platform-wide architecture for sensors and embedded systems.
  • Lead development of technical specifications, requirements, and interface definitions for complex systems.
  • Drive architectural reviews and establish best practices for embedded development, including safety-critical aspects.
  • Conduct research and proof-of-concept for next-generation technologies; provide forward-looking recommendations to leadership.
  • Mentor engineers across levels and advocate for technical excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, product managers, and cross-functional teams to align technical vision with business goals.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts effectively to both engineering teams and executive stakeholders.
