About The Position

The Automotive Worker performs routine maintenance, preventive maintenance services, repairs, and modifications under the direct supervision of a Mechanic. This includes tasks such as adjusting brakes, replacing/servicing batteries, replacing/rotating tires, and replacing windshield wipers. The role also involves assisting with major overhaul jobs by disassembling and cleaning parts, repairing components like generators and water pumps, and replacing thermostats, electrical wiring, and other items. The Automotive Worker replaces engine, transmission, and differential fluids; checks, cleans, and replaces plugs, oil, and air filters. They may also assist with basic structural repair and fabrication of small assemblies, electrical wiring, and the removal and installation of access panels, components, and accessories. Maintaining tools and equipment and cleaning work areas are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year wheel or track vehicle repair experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Passing a pre-employment drug screen and a government background check is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
  • Must be available to work any shift.
  • Willing to work weekends and other hours as needed
  • Access to the Depot requires all covered individuals to be registered with the United States Selective Service.

Responsibilities

  • Assists mechanic in servicing, adjusting and replaces parts using common hand tools.
  • Removes inspection plates and panels; cowling, engine covers, floor boards; and related items to provide access for inspection and repair.
  • Replaces items when work is completed.
  • Performs routine duties such as furnishing materials; tools and supplies to mechanic; lifting and holding materials in place during maintenance operation; cleaning interior and exterior parts and assemblies with solvents or other cleaning solutions.
  • Fills fuel tanks and cells and oil reservoirs and lubricates using grease gun.
  • Washes and cleans equipment as directed.
  • May drive/transport equipment to be serviced and repaired.
  • Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested
  • Continuously developing and maintaining a safe work environment, completing all training requirements, fulfilling self-aid/buddy aid responsibilities, participating in emergency response tasks and serving on safety committees and teams.
  • Consistently providing services that meet customer expectations, conforming to the Amentum Quality Policy, and carrying out job activities in compliance with applicable Amentum Quality System documents and customer contracts.
  • Reading, understanding, and implementing the general and specific operational, safety, quality and environmental requirements of all plans, procedures and policies pertaining to his/her job.
