About The Position

Positions exist in the General Services/Transportation department at Porterville Developmental Center. Incumbents must operate and maintain delivery trucks and any vehicle needed to perform duties in the transportation department as scheduled by the Automotive Pool Manager or designee. Effective July 1, 2025, State employees are subject to a salary reduction of three (3) percent in exchange for five (5) hours per month of the Personal Leave. Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement.
  • Must be able to move, load and unload heavy items.
  • Individuals interested in the position must take and pass the Department of State Hospitals' Automotive Equipment Operator I, DMH & DDS examination.
  • Submit a completed standard state application (STD. 678) and copy of driver license valid for operation of any bus designed to carry more than 15 passengers, any single vehicle with three or more axles, any such vehicle towing another vehicle weighing less than 6,000 pounds gross by the final filing date.
