About The Position

The Automotive Body Shop Estimator is responsible for evaluating vehicle damage, creating accurate repair estimates, and liaising with customers and insurance companies. This role requires a thorough understanding of automotive repair processes, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to provide detailed and precise repair cost assessments. The Estimator plays a critical role in the customer experience by ensuring transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in the repair process. The ideal candidate for the Automotive Body Shop Estimator position will be detail-oriented, customer-focused, and knowledgeable about automotive repair processes. This role is crucial in ensuring a positive customer experience and maintaining the body shop's reputation for high-quality repairs and service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong knowledge of automotive repair processes and industry-standard estimating software (e.g., CCC ONE, Mitchell, Audatex)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
  • Ability to work collaboratively with customers, insurance companies, and internal teams
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with body shop management software

Nice To Haves

  • Additional technical training or certification in automotive repair or estimating is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inspect damaged vehicles to assess the extent of damage and necessary repairs.
  • Utilize specialized tools and software to create detailed damage reports and repair estimates.
  • Identify all required parts and labor needed to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition.
  • Prepare accurate and itemized repair estimates using industry-standard estimating software.
  • Include costs for parts, labor, paint, and other materials in the estimates.
  • Ensure estimates comply with insurance company guidelines and standards.
  • Communicate with customers to explain the damage assessment and repair process.
  • Provide clear and accurate information about repair timelines, costs, and warranty coverage.
  • Address customer questions and concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Work with insurance adjusters to ensure estimates meet insurance requirements.
  • Submit estimates and negotiate with insurance companies to secure approval for repairs.
  • Handle supplemental claims and adjust estimates as necessary based on additional damage found during repairs.
  • Maintain accurate records of estimates, repairs, and customer interactions.
  • Update job files with progress notes, photographs, and relevant documentation.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on estimate accuracy, approval rates, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure that all repairs are completed to industry standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct final inspections of repaired vehicles to verify quality and completeness.
  • Address any issues or discrepancies promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Assist in streamlining the estimating and repair process to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with technicians and other body shop staff to ensure timely completion of repairs.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance service quality and reduce costs.
