About The Position

Kentro is seeking an Automation Tester to support SSA's Agile development efforts by designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and scripts. The person will ensure that software products meet quality standards and function as intended, utilizing industry-standard test automation tools and SSA's best practices. This role collaborates closely with developers, business analysts, and stakeholders to implement automated testing strategies, support continuous integration, and help improve software quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Experience designing and developing automated test scripts using industry-standard tools (e.g., Selenium, UFT, JUnit, TestNG, Cypress, Cucumber, Playwright, or comparable).
  • Hands-on experience working within Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong understanding of test automation frameworks, scripting, and test data management concepts.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience validating RESTful APIs, databases, UI, and functional workflows.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Active or ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting federal IT initiatives (SSA experience preferred).
  • Working knowledge of SSA testing standards, conventions, or enterprise tools.
  • Experience with accessibility, security, or performance testing.
  • Test automation certification (ISTQB, ASTQB, CSTE, or similar).

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test scripts using industry-standard tools and SSA-approved methodologies.
  • Design reusable test frameworks to support regression, functional, integration, and performance testing.
  • Implement and update automated testing components compatible with continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
  • Identify automation opportunities and optimize test coverage and efficiency.
  • Participate in test planning, requirements review, and sprint ceremonies to align testing activities with development efforts.
  • Analyze and document defects, track resolutions, and participate in defect triage with the development team.
  • Ensure automated test scripts are aligned with acceptance criteria, user stories, and SSA-defined testing objectives.
  • Maintain accurate test logs, results, and documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.
  • Follow SSA-defined testing guidelines, conventions, naming standards, and documentation procedures.
  • Adhere to SSA Agile practices, including execution within sprints, backlog grooming, and iteration planning.
  • Ensure testing artifacts are up to date in SSA's designated Agile and testing management tools.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to support continuous integration and automated testing throughout the software lifecycle.
  • Provide testing insights, coverage reports, and recommendations to improve test design and automation strategies.
  • Support knowledge sharing and contribute to the evolution of test automation standards and practices.
